This article is devoted to the history of the Lower Volga region in the X-XIII century. Population of the Lower Volga region (Saqsin) was multi-ethnic. It could be divided into local and alien. Khazars’ descendants and Oghuzs were the local population. Aliens population included Volga Bulgarians and Alanian colonists. Saqsin was not the part of the Dasht-i-Qipchaq, but a separate region. After the fall of the Khazar Khaganate the Lower Volga region fell under the power of Oghuzs. For two centuries the local population were assimilated by Oguz.

The author analyzes one of landmark performances of the Tatar State Academic theater named after G. Kamal «Kayum Nasyri» that was put on the stage (according to the play with the same name wrote by M. Ghali and H. Urazikov) by director H. Urazikovym in the middle of the 1940ies. The images of such outstanding figures of the Tatar culture, as K. Nasyri and Sh. Mardzhani, are considered for the first time in the history of national theater science.

L. Donina. Tatar traditional costume in «Shurale» ballet by F. Yarullin
The author analyzes the theatrical interpretation of the Tatar traditional costume performed V. Nikitin, L. Speranskaya-Stein, A. Nagaev and A. Knoblock on the example of F. Yarullin’s «Shurale» ballet’s retrospective. Only ethno-specific elements of traditional costume were mainly used in ballet performances, but the basic principles of art and figurative expression of the complex were consistently maintained. The artists expressed and emphasized the distinctive features of the Tatar national theatre through the costume.

I.Minnullin. In the Heraldic Council under the President of the Republic of Tatarstan
The article is devoted to the activities of the Heraldic Council under the President of the Republic of Tatarstan in 2013. The priority activity of the Council was to promote the revitalization of the state and territorial symbols and the Heraldic Councils’ activities. The Council held a series of arrangements in the Republic of Tatarstan’s municipalities. The villages Karabash (Bugulminsky region) and Vasilyevo (Zelenodolsky region) were awarded by the Certificate of the Official Symbols Incorporation; the students learned the history of heraldry, its rules and traditions during the specials meetings.
