Ya. Pylypchuk. Women in the history of Qipchaqs
This article is dedicated to the gender history of Qipchaqs. Woman in a nomadic society had significant rights, although the Qipchaq society was patriarchal. Some aristocrats kept nomadic habits of Christian and Muslim societies, where the rights of women were minimal. Terken-Khatun, Ay-Čiček Khatun, Qumar-Khatun, Erszebet, Anna-Anisia, Radiya-sultan were among those whom aristocratic in the Western Christian World would call a «she-wolf» for authoritativeness. Personally free women were forced to perform hard labor. Women-Slaves also had virtually no rights.

D. Mustafina. «And that earth — the grasslands and the wood — the steppe place, lies in the emptiness and is given to nobody» (Monastic colonization of Zavolzhsky region: the tribute articles of the Kostroma Epiphany Monastery in the Kazan district in the XVII century)
The work is devoted to the analysis of one of public acts — the import diploma given by the Kazan voevode D. Dolgorukov to the Kostroma Epiphany Monastery for the tribute articles (meadows and woods) in the Kazan district and to inclusion of this acts in a scientific turn. The features of kolonizational of the Zavolzhsky Area’ development in the 60th of the XVII century and one of ways of expansion of the landed property to which monasteries resorted are reflected in the article.

E. Gruzdev. «Shakhovsky’s group»
The lean year of 1898 caused strong starvation among peasants of the Menzelinsky district of the Ufa province. The prince S. Shakhovskoy organized the large-scale and versatile assistance to the starving. He organized fund raising across all Russia and created dining rooms and medical aid stations.

L. Chubukchiyeva. Women’s issue in dzhadidizm’s ideology
Reforms of the dzhadidizm were the prerequisite for the basis of Muslim culture formation in modern times. The main directions of dzhadidistsky movement became the following: education system reform, strengthening of communications between the Turkic-Muslim people, active cooperation with the Russian culture, creation of uniform Turkic literature, liberation of the Muslim woman from Islamic clericalism and reforming of female education.

L. Gabdrafikova. «You after all are not the angels and you can’t live without drinking, eating and dressing…» (About financial position of the Tatar mullahs in the beginning of the XX century)
Financial position of the Tatar mullahs considerably went down at the beginning of the XX century. World War I was one of the reasons of this phenomenon. The publication is added with the note by akhun Giniyatulla Gizatullin, taken from Nikolay Katanov’s personal fund from National Archive of the Republic of Tatarstan. The note was published in the Tatar press during World War I. It is the bright illustration of the Tatar mullahs’ everyday life in the pre-revolutionary period.

A. Sabitova. «We are the journalists of the screen and we are urged to be assistants to party» (About ideological control over activity of the Kazan documentary film makers in the early sixties)
The article is devoted to Kazan newsreel studio’s history. Particular attention is paid to ideological control of the studio from the state in the beginning of the 1960s. The author shows the influence of the party and government’s meeting with writers and artists (1962 and 1963 years) on the development of the cinema in Tatarstan on the basis of archival documents.

B. Kunitsyn. Young years of P. Znamensky according to his autobiographical notes
The author describes the life and customs of the Nizhny Novgorod priest’s family, study and life condition in school and seminary, gives the mentors’ characteristics on the basis of the memoirs by the professor of the Kazan theological academy P. Znamensky that haven’t been published before. The memoirs belong to the first half of the XIX century.

Y. Rudneva. The ordinary history of the provincial «emansipe»
The author reconstructs the biography of the graduate of the Kazan Higher Female Courses (1876-1887) M. Chernyshevskaya, analyzes the factors that influenced on the outlook of the emancipated women’ formation in the second half of the XIX century. The work is written on the basis of the documents from the funds of the Department of Archival Documents of the Memorial estate of N. Chernyshevsky (Saratov city). This documents were not published before.

I. Zaytsev, D. Usmanova. Materials about vaisovsky tendency in V. Gordlevsky’s fund
The article is devoted to the documents about the vaisovsky movement, being stored in fund of the known Soviet scientist, the orientalist-turcologist V. Gordlevsky (1876-1956) in the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences. These documents allow the reader to glance in the scientist’s «creative laboratory», to learn his area of interests, to understand nature of scientific communication in the Soviet period.

The work gives the details of correspondence between N. Ilminsky — the Kazan Teacher’s Seminary director and the chief-prosecutor of St. Synod K. Pobedonostsevin 1880-1890. It shins the features of realization of an internal political course of the Alexander III’s reign era concerning Muslim Tatars. The little-known facts of history of development of social, cultural and educational tendencies of the Tatar intellectuals and the bourgeoisie of the last third of the XIX century, functioning of Islamic religious institutes in Russia are presented in the documents.

E. Amerkhanova. Publishing patterns of the World War I soldiers’ letters
The big collection of the World War I soldiers’ letters is stored in the Department of Manuscripts and Rare Books of Scientific library named after Lobachevsky in Kazan University. The considerable part of them is written on special typographical forms which the author calls patterns. The article is devoted to their analysis.

This article examines changes in the attitude of Russians towards the Austro-German population of the country during the First World War (on the example of Kazan province). Activities of local administration towards this group of citizens wore diverse — from indifferent to repressive. This work gives some of the most illustrative examples, revealing general characteristics of wartime relations «friend or foe».

A. Gallyamova. The strokes to the Soviet youth’s portrait (To the 95 anniversary of the Lenin Communistic Union of Youth in TASSR)

The article is devoted to the 85 anniversary of creation of party archive of the Tatar Regional Committee of CPSU (nowadays the Central State Archive of Historical and Political Documentation of the Republic of Tatarstan). Published documents reflect archive activity in the 1930th. Despite difficult conditions, employees did a great job on documents preservation, its’ arranging in order and description.

L. Baibulatova. The unknown pages of the Golden Horde history
The article presents a transliteration of risale text, which describes the events of the period of the Golden Horde (1370-ies) as well as a shedzhere of khans. The original risale was written in 1771, the author gives a transliteration of the Arabic script from the copy made in 1836 and treated by Rizaetdin Fakhretdinov.

A. Arslanova. The manuscripts on Sufism written in Persian language from the collection of Scientific library named after N. Lobachevsky of Kazan Federal University
The collection of manuscripts on Sufism written in Persian language from Scientific library named after N. Lobachevsky of the Kazan University is described in the article. The Sufiysky movement had a great impact on spiritual culture of the Tatar people. 117 copies of compositions on Sufism and Sufisky life-literature from 736 units of storage the manuscripts written in Persian language in the XIV — the beginning of the XX centuries were found out.

The work shows life and activity of Kamil Mutygi-Tukhfatullin’s — the writer, the founder of the first magazines and newspapers written in the Tatar language. The author analyzes his comments to Koran «The Tatar Comment to Koran». The translation of introduction to this work into modern Tatar language is shown to the reader.

I. Rameeva. Tatar authors and works about the Tatars in the magazine «Turk Yurdu» (1911-1931)
The magazine «Turk Yurdu» was first published in Istanbul in 1911. The magazine was one of the most influential periodical publications in Turkey, which formed and directed the public opinion not only in Turkish society, but also the entire Turkic world. This work consists of two parts. The first part provides an overview of all journal articles of «Turk Yurdu». The second part presents bibliographical material of the journals of 1911-1931 years, which included the articles written by Tatar authors as well as the materials covering the social, political and literary life of the Tatars.

G. Guadagnolo. Musa Dzhalil at the Tatar Working Department
The Working faculty was created at the Kazan University in 1919. It had the aim to prepare the Tatar studying youth for entering the higher education institutions of the Soviet Russia. In 1923 the young Tatar poet Musa Dzhalil became the student of Workers’ Universityepartment. The publication is devoted to the statement of the poet in trade-union committee about footwear allocation. This statement is introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.

R. Sadykova. Protocols of party bodies as a source on studying of the country people’s plight on the eve of the mass collectivization
The article contains the analysis of the protocols of the meetings of the Bureau of the Tatar regional Committee and Arsky Kantonny Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks), being stored in the Central State Archive of Historical and Political Documentation of the Republic of Tatarstan. Documents tell us about the plight of the village and moods of peasants on the eve of the mass collectivization. They reflect the methods of pressure upon country people and its reaction.

R. Khayrutdinov, I. Minnullin. Formation of heraldic policy in the Republic of Tatarstan (2002-2006)
The present stage of development of heraldry began with formation of the new Russian state. The Public heraldic service (since 1999 — the Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation) was formed on February 20, 1992. The Heraldic Council under the President of the Republic of Tatarstan was formed in 2002. The members started practical implementation of the points of the Decree of the President of Tatarstan on creation, registration and calculation of official symbols of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Ch. Bucharaeva. Establishment and development of physical education system for schoolchildren in the TASSR in 1920-1930
The article is dedicated to establishment and development of physical education system for schoolchildren in the Tatar Soviet Socialistic Republic in 1920-1930. The author reveals that the process of physical education system establishment following the events of October, 1917 was an integral part of great changes happening at that time in the social life of the country. The core of this phenomenon was to educate a personality in a spirit of communistic ideology, among other things by means of physical training.
