A. Gallyamova. Devoted to the 95 anniversary of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and the 25 anniversary of the Republic of Tatarstan

The work consecrates on two important anniversary events in the political history of the Republic of Tatarstan: to the 95 anniversary of formation of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and 25 anniversary of the Republic of Tatarstan.

D. Mustafina. Documents about the Lithuanian Tatars in the Belarus National Historical Archive in Grodno city (1830th)

The work deals with the informational potential of the documents that were little-known to the scientific community. The above mentioned documents reflected the social legal status of the Polish-Lithuanian Tatars as a part of the Russian Empire in the 10-30th of the XIX century. Documents from the funds of the Belarus National Historical Archive in Grodno city are offered to the readers attention.

D. Usmanova, N. Gilmutdinov. From the history of the regional legal profession: the struggle for creation of the Kazan Barristers’ Council in the 1880’s

The article examines an episode from the history of the legal profession in Kazan, dealing with the attempts of lawyers in Kazan to create an autonomous corporate body: the Council of Barristers of the Kazan Legal Chamber. A group of Kazan lawyers addressed to Senator M. E. Kovalevsky «Note» with such an initiative in 1880. Strengthening of reaction and the general chill in domestic politics temporarily deprived provincial lawyers of the legal right to self-organization and the creation of a corporate body, the requirement in which was so obvious. Absence of self-government institutions slowed down the process of class consolidation of provincial lawyers.

A. Fedotova. Female charity in the Kazan province in 1906-1907

The professors’ wives and teachers of the Kazan University organized the section on assistance to the starving in 1906-1907. The article shows the structure and activity of this charitable organization.

L. Gabdrafikova. «Carts of the impious offend religion…» (Vehicles of the Tatar community in the beginning of the XX century)

The article tells about distribution of different types of transport among the Tatar population of the Volga-Ural region in the beginning of the XX century. Existence of transport was considered as one of signs of success and progressiveness of views of the Muslim. The names of the Tatars owners of cars and motorcycles are established on the basis of archival documents.

I. Zagidullin, H. Bagautdinova, L. Baybulatova. A problem of a rest day for Muslims’ trade institutions in petitions of Kazan Tatars in the end XIX — beginning of the XX century

The article is devoted to discussion of a problem of rest day for Muslims’ trade institutions in Sunday and holidays, which took place in the Kazan City Council in the beginning of the XX century. Three protest petitions of Kazan Tatars addressed to the chairman of the Committee of Ministers of Russia S. Yu. Witte are given to the readers’ attention.

T. Krasheninnikova, R. Abilova. Frank Whitson Fetter: «I was very lucky that I reached and I lived in Kazan» (1930)

Frank Whitson Fetter (1902-1991) — an economist who were graduated from the American University arrived to the USSR through Intourist in 1930. Studying Russian was the main goal of visit to the USSR. His travel (arrival to Moscow and Kazan) across the Soviet Union is described in the work. Fetter took a large number of pictures during his stay in the USSR. Now the Fetter’s collection of pictures is stored in the library of USA Duke University.

G. Alyokminskaya. Agricultural resettlements to East Transbaikalia in the 1930th

The article is devoted to studying of problems of immigrants to East Transbaikalia in the 1930th. The author analyses data on quantity of the arrived and left immigrants in Chita region; the reasons of a mass exit of Tatar immigrants from collective farms; activity of the area and regional party organizations for the device and fixing of immigrants in places of installations is analyzed.

M. Arslanov. The Russian and foreign classics on a scene of the theater named after G. Kamal during the Great Patriotic War

During the Great Patriotic War the theater named after G. Kamal actively staged the performances by the Tatar authors along with the Russian and foreign classics. The stage plays «The Dog in Manger» by Lope de Vega, «King Lear» by V. Shakespeare, A. Ostrovsky’s «Groza» are the bright example of that fact. Presented universal values and humanistic ideas steadily caused wide interest of the audience.

E. Dolgov. «Obliged to reign»: Nicholas I and lawful bureaucratic monarchy of Russia

The article is devoted to the bureaucratic monarchy development in Russia in the first half of the XIX century. Considerable success in the field of the state construction, economy and culture was achieved during Nicholas I’s reign.

R. Iskhakov. N. Ilminsky’s contribution to development of the educational movement of the baptized non-russian people of Volga-Ural region

The famous scientist-orientalist, the teacher, the educator, the public figure and the orthodox missionary N. Ilminsky (1822-1891) made contribution to cultural development and educations of the baptized people in Volga-Ural region. The main stages of formation of educational system of Ilminsky, formation of bilingual elementary missionary schools and written traditions of the non-russian population of the region are shown in the article. Changes in the interconfessional relations in Volga-Ural region in the second half of the XIX century and religious policy of the state for the local people are also analyzed by the author.

T. Bayrashauskayte. Identity awakening: Georgy Iosifovich Yuzefovich and his sketch about the Lithuanian-Polish Tatars (the end of the XIX century)

The article deals with the issue of national identity and its manifestation in the XIX century. The phenomenon of double national identity is shown on the example of the nobleman, the landowner of the Novgorod province, the educated officer of the Russian army, the native of ethnically mixed family G. I. Yuzefovich (1864-1912). The author tells about the fact when the son of the Lithuanian Tatar and the Russian noblewoman who was brought up in the Russian tradition and culture addressed to the Tatar. The Tatar identity of G. I. Yuzefovich was shown in literary and research work. The small historical sketch about the Lithuanian-Polish Tatars published for the first time was created as a result. The basis of the article are the letters by G. I. Yuzefovich’s to his mother E. P. Yuzefovich (Khrapovitskaya), an unfinished narration reminiscence about destiny of entail properties in the Novgorod province, the will draft copy, short records connected with literary and research work and the manuscript of a sketch about the Lithuanian-Polish Tatars. All these documents dated 1880-1890 are stored in the Russian State Historical Archive in St. Petersburg.

Ya. Pilipchuk. Nogayev Ulus and Europe: a history of relationship

One of the most interesting personnel in the history of Ulus Dzhuchi is Nogay. This Dzhuchid could create the new political center on the state suburb. For several decades his willpower determined the destinies of many countries of Central East and Southeast Europe. The article tells about Nogay’s politics in Eastern Europe and also dynamics of the relations of the Europe imperial center and Ulus Nogay.

F. Kozlov. The decree «About a freedom of worship…» or «About church separation…» (1918)

The work is devoted to problems of dating and name of one of the first Soviet decrees. The decree of SNK RSFSR «About separation of the church from the state and about separation of the school from the church» («About freedom of worship, church and religious societies») is in the center of author’s attention. He considers the practice in historical science, the existing options, and also interrelations «date — name». The article offers author’s approach to an explanation of the decree dating and the applied decree name.

R. Gallyam. Letters by A.-Z. Validi to V. A. Gordlevsky

The letters by the famous scientist-turcologist and the public figure A.-Z. Validi to the academician-orientalist V. A. Gordlevsky (1915) are presented in the article. They are stored in V. A. Gordlevsky’s fund in the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

O. Fedotova. Velimir Khlebnikov in Kazan (Devoted to the 130 anniversary since birth)

The work is devoted to the 130 anniversary of the poet and philosopher Velimir Khlebnikov. The Kazan period (1898-1908) influenced on the poet’s formation and his creativity. The documents dedicated to the poet are stored in the funds of the National Archive of the Republic of Tatarstan.

L. Khuzeeva. «The real park will stay after us…» (Devoted to the 90 anniversary since the birth of G. K. Kasimov)

The work is devoted to the biography of the manager of party archive of the Tatar regional committee of CPSU G. K. Kasimov (1925-1994). The documents about the different parties of his activity were found out in the Central State Archive of Historical and Political Documentation of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Z. Garipova, A. Kabirova. Z. I. Gilmanov: touch to the scientist’s portrait (Devoted to the 90 anniversary since birth)

The publication is devoted to the Great Patriotic War participant, the honored worker of science of TASSR, the honored worker of culture of RSFSR, the doctor of historical sciences, professor Z. I. Gilmanov (1925-1991). He made a great contribution to studying of domestic and regional historiography of the Great Patriotic War.

Z. Abdirashidov. I. Gasprinsky and formation of the Terdzhiman newspaper

Publishing activity of the Crimean Tatar educator I. Gasprinsky is shown in the article. Formation of his «Terdzhiman» newspaper is described in details. The newspaper told about political, economic and cultural affairs of the Muslim population of Russia and the adjacent states.

The analysis of articles by I. Gasprinsky in the «Terdzhiman» newspaper devoted to household and cultural life, level of scientific and technical progress, questions of agriculture of the Crimea at the end of the XIX — the beginning of the XX century is presented in the publication. The author comes to a conclusion about versatility of I. Gasprinsky’s works which concerned not only everyday life of the Turkic population of the Russian Empire but also political events in the empire.

R. Islamov. About a novel by Sh. Mannur «Musa»

The article is devoted to the first part of the novel by Sh. Mannur «Musa» about the Tatar poet, the Hero of the Soviet Union M. Dzhalil which for the unknown reasons wasn’t allowed to the edition in 1968. This part tells about the first love of Musa’s literary hero to the girl Madina.

A. Borisov. Fiery drama of the first Kazan city theater

The article is devoted to the Kazan city theater history. The theater was the main venue of citizens’ leisure before revolution. Theatrical performances, opera arias and the ballet were the part of theatre life. However due to carelessness of theater employees the building burned repeatedly and then it was restored and reconstructed.

A. Gaynetdinov. Brothers Sultanbekovs — masters in inscriptions on tombstones

The article is devoted to studying of the Tatar tombstones of the end of XIX — the beginnings of the XX century, remained in the Mamadyshsky region of the Republic of Tatarstan. By identification and research of these cultural and historical monuments the author opens the new names of master carvers. Muslim theologians and public figures brothers Sultanbekovs were skillful masters in tombstones’ production and design.

R. Bekkin. Tatars in St. Petersburg: horse-slaughter craft (the XIX — the beginning of the XX century)

The article tells about horse-slaughter craft in St. Petersburg in the end of the XIX — the beginning of the XX century. The special attention is paid to the horse-slaughterhouse at the village of Kupchino belonging to Tatars. M.-A. Maksutov — the famous Petersburg merchant, the patron and the public figure was subsequently one of its owners in the 1880th.

A. Dubin. The gardens of Kazan (the end of XIX — the beginning of the XX century)

There were eleven gardens and places of public celebrations in Kazan at a boundary of the XIX-XX centuries. Their specific difference was that they were organized not simply as the places of walks and rest of citizens, but also as the places of entertainments. Summer theaters, orchestral platforms were arranged, swings and roundabouts were established, restaurants and teahouses worked in the gardens.

D. Usmanova. The International Scientific Congress «Ismail Gasprinsky’s Heritage in Crimea Destinies»

The work gives the review of work of the International Scientific Conference «Ismail Gasprinsky’s Heritage in Crimea Destinies», which took place on May 15-16, 2015 in Istanbul. A key figure of scientific action was I. Gasprinsky — the eminent Turkic-Tatar person, the founder and the ideologist of Jadidism, the indisputable leader of the Russian Turkic peoples.

D. Usmanova. International Scientific and Practical Conference «Manuscripts of the Lithuanian Tatars are the National Property»

The article characterizes work of the International Scientific and Practical Conference devoted to the 100 anniversary of detection of the manuscript by Ivan Lutskevich. Kitab Ivan Lutskevich is the arabographical manuscript of the religious contents copied in the first half of the XVIII century. Participation of the Kazan scientists, who represented the Historical Department of the Kazan Federal University at a forum, was not incidentally. Successful scientific contacts were carried out between the historians and Turkologists of the Kazan and Vilnius Universities within the last ten years.

I. Zagidullin. International conference «Yusuf Akchura: heritage and present»

The review of work of the First International Conference devoted to the 80 anniversary from the date of death of the famous Tatar and Turkish figure Yusuf Akchura (1876-1935) is given in the article. The researchers’ reports were devoted to Yu. Akchura’s biography, his multifarious activities and history of Akchurins family. Conferees paid the special attention to necessity of studying, publication and promoting of written heritage of Yu. Akchura as important source on political history of Tatars in the beginning of the XX century.

E. Popova. «It was necessary to work in incredibly severe conditions…» (Devoted to the 95 anniversary of the Mari El Republic formation)

The article tells about the work of Revolutionary committee of the Mari Autonomous Region. The author deals with the questions of Revolutionary committee formation, its activities for the Mari Autonomous Region formation, fight against starvation and forest fires. The employees’ age structure is also described.

H. Bagautdinova. Dzhiyens on the territory of the East Zakamsky Region

The facts about the Tatar national holiday Dzhiyen, collected by the writer K. Rakhimov, are presented in the article. Documents describe a festive and ceremonial complex of Dzhiyen in the Tatar villages of East Zakamsky Region (the modern Yutazinsky and Aznakayevsky regions of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Bakalinsky region of the Republic of Bashkortostan).
